Biography
Pastor Gloria Espeseth is a graduate of the University of North
Dakota. Prior to seminary, she taught physical education
and worked at a bank in Oxnard, California, in personnel and
corporate training. She attended Fuller Seminary and graduated in 1983 from
Wartburg in Dubuque, Iowa with a Master of Divinity degree.
From there, she was called to serve at St. Andrews Lutheran Church
in San Diego from 1984-1989. After completing additional
graduate work at Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia in 1990, she served as
interim minister of 4 congregations from 1991-1995. Pastor
Gloria came to Gethsemane Lutheran Church in January, 1996 where
she now serves as pastor.
While serving at Gethsemane
Lutheran, Pastor Gloria has taken on a variety of leadership
roles. She has served as the Dean of the West San Diego
Conference and has chaired the Resolutions Committee for the ELCA Pacifica
Synod. She has also served on The Board of the ELCA's
Commission for Multicultural Ministries. She has been PTA president for three years at Dailard
Elementary School in San Diego and coached T-Ball for two years
at the Allied Gardens Little League.
Pastor Gloria is married to
Roger Nies and has two sons, Chris and Ethan.
