SUMMARY:SUNDAY WORSHIP - Contemplative Communion
DESCRIPTION:November 7\, 2021: All Saints Day led by Pastor Solomon Hailu \nFirst Reading: Isaiah 25:6-9 – The banquet of the Lord \nPsalm: Psalm 24 – They shall receive blessing from the God of their salvation. (Ps. 24:5) \nSecond Reading: Revelation 21:1-6a – A new heaven and a new earth \nGospel: John 11:32-44 – The raising of Lazarus \nCovid-19 Regulations\n\n\nIn light of the ongoing pandemic and the presence of the Delta variant\, we are all wearing masks for the 9:30 service. Other congregations are making different choices\, accepting greater levels of risk\, but we have opted to take a cautious path throughout. We believe it is our duty and it is also our desire to protect the vulnerable among us and to adapt ourselves to the current times. We all live each day doing the best we can. We are a church that recognizes life is fragile and we are inherently vulnerable. We are always a breath away from our mortality. Please realize we make every effort to minimize the risk of transmitting COVID-19 during worship\, but even being careful cannot remove all risk. Also\, we want our non-vaccinated friends to be able to worship with us without being singled out. The 8am service is a much smaller group and there are few responses and no singing\, so mask wearing there has been optional. We are asking all who attend the 8am service to have a face covering with you\, just in case we have a friend in attendance who is not yet comfortable being out without covering. Thank you.

SUMMARY:PRAYER QUILT MINISTRY
DESCRIPTION:The Quilters will start meeting in person on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m.  in the Garden Room. New participants (not limited to women) are welcome and you need not know how to sew. There are lots of tasks that are part of making this ministry function—from prepping fabric for cutting\, picking colors to go together\, cutting fabric or batting\, placing ties—all easy to do. Recipients of prayer quilts\, crocheted throws\, and prayer squares often express their wonder and appreciation of this ministry of love and healing and you can be part of providing it!

Thank you.

SUMMARY:SUNDAY WORSHIP - Contemplative Communion
DESCRIPTION:19th Sunday after Pentecost – Blessing of the Animals \nJob 1:1-1; 2:1-10—Job’s integrity in the face of suffering \nPsalm 26—Your steadfast love is before my eyes; (Ps. 26:3) \nHebrews 1:1-4; 2:5-12—God has spoken by a Son \nMark 10:13-16—Jesus blesses the children \nCovid-19 Regulations\n\n\nIn light of the ongoing pandemic and the presence of the Delta variant\, we are all wearing masks for the 9:30 service. SUMMARY:SERRA MESA FOOD PANTRY FUNDRAISER
DESCRIPTION:Tickets for September 26 to watch our San Diego Padres play the Atlanta Braves in the last home game of this season have been received for Section 218 in Toyota Terrace under the shade. The $49.50 tickets going on sale at $48.00 each cost us $42.00 each\, giving us at least $6.00 per ticket for the Serra Mesa Food Pantry. Instead of physical tickets\, the Padres are sending tickets on a Ballpark iPhone app which can be sent to you after you indicate on the spreadsheet posted in our narthex where you would like to sit or contact Jerry directly. Since every Sunday is military Sunday\, you may want to arrive earlier than the starting time of 1:10 PM for the opening festivities. Parking for $15 is best by entering the Omni Hotel Parking Garage at the 1 st driveway on the left near the end of Sixth Avenue\, taking the elevator down to G\, and walking across Tony Gwynn Drive to the gate entry. Our Padres are vying for the playoffs again this year.

SUMMARY:GOD’S WORK OUR HANDS SUNDAY
DESCRIPTION:Sunday September 12 is God’s Work Our Hands Sunday. Plan on sticking around a while after worship. One of our projects will be to paint rocks to give away… at the labyrinth\, in the community\, etc. They are little messages of good news that will surprise people when they find them. The other will be hosting a food collection drive for the Serra Mesa Food Pantry. Each household will be given 2 grocery bags to fill up and flyers to distribute to your neighbors explaining what we are doing. You are requested to go to your neighbors requesting unopened non-perishables from their pantry to share. The point is to give the kinds of things we like to eat… not the leftovers of stuff we bought but never got around to eating. The added benefit is this: It will give you an excuse to talk to your neighbors!
