DESCRIPTION:We are hosting the Living the Resurrection cohorts from across Pacifica Synod on SATURDAY\, April 9th\, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel. The Living the Resurrection Team of Mary Erlenborn\, Jerry Albert and Pastor Karla attended the introductory session in February and have been busy talking to the council about the dynamics of our congregation. We were assigned these 10 questions to discuss: \n1. Does your congregation have a mission statement? \na. If so…\ni. How did it come to exist?\nii. Is it shared widely?\niii. How does the congregation live into this statement? \n(our answer was ‘yes’ so we did not have to go into the ‘if not’ questions. \n2. In your own words\, what is your congregation’s purpose? \n3. What makes you feel hopeful about our congregation’s future? \n4. On a scale of 1-5 with 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest\, respond to the following: \na. How willing are you to try new things?\nb. How willing do you think the congregation is to try new things?\ni. What story from the life of the congregation influenced your response to this question? \n5. How does your congregation help members build strong relationships with one another? \n6. What is this congregation’s typical reaction to conflict? \n7. Which letter ( A\, B or C) best describes our congregation’s relationship with the people who live in the neighborhoods around the church building. \nA. We don’t know our neighbors.\nB. We serve our neighbors.\nC. We love our neighbors. \n8. Explain a bit about your answer to question 7. \n9. What obstacles do you see to our congregation’s full participation in Living the Resurrection? \n10. What gifts or assets do you see in our congregation that will help us participate fully in Living the Resurrection? \nWe have also begun individual interviews with council members. When we meet on the 9th\, we will be led through a process toward discovering what these conversations have to tell us about our congregation and how God might be preparing us for our next chapter. WHY AM I TELLING YOU ABOUT THIS? Because I want you to know what we are thinking about; because I want you to think about these questions and the answers to them too (not just the council members); AND because I want you to pray for us\, for our congregation and for how God might use us for good as we live the resurrection life.

SUMMARY:Spiritual Questers Study - 12 step
DESCRIPTION:The 12 Steps of AA are a guide to living a spiritual life. In the church\, we might call them a format for discipleship. I have adapted them slightly so they more explicitly apply to everyone\, not just alcoholics. The group that met in the fall to study The 12 Steps thought it would be helpful to be able to continue to reflect on them so once a month\, we will have an opportunity to consider our approach to living with an eye for the Steps\, melding them with our faith. In January we will study Step 1. In February Step 2 and so on. \nWe will meet at 7:00 pm on the 2nd Thursday of each month on the GLC Zoom link.

We believe it is our duty and it is also our desire to protect the vulnerable among us and to adapt ourselves to the current times. We all live each day doing the best we can. We are a church that recognizes life is fragile and we are inherently vulnerable. We are always a breath away from our mortality. Please realize we make every effort to minimize the risk of transmitting COVID-19 during worship\, but even being careful cannot remove all risk. Also\, we want our non-vaccinated friends to be able to worship with us without being singled out. The 8am service is a much smaller group and there are few responses and no singing\, so mask wearing there has been optional. We are asking all who attend the 8am service to have a face covering with you\, just in case we have a friend in attendance who is not yet comfortable being out without covering. Thank you.

Once a month\, we will take an opportunity to consider our approach to living with an eye for the Steps\, melding them with our faith. In March we’ll look at Step 3—“We made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood God and recommit ourselves daily.” We will meet at 7:00 p.m. on the 2nd Thursday of each month on the GLC Zoom link. DESCRIPTION:CENTERING PRAYER…  \n…is an ecumenical\, non-sectarian practice of prayer. Centering prayer groups are hosted by Lutherans\, Catholics\, Methodists and more. Here in San Diego County\, there are Centering Prayer groups meeting every day of the week and all are open to anyone who would like to practice this form of prayer. And ‘practice’ is the right word for it. We are all learning\, deepening\, maturing in our faith and our ability to enter into the life of Christ through this and other forms of prayer.
