Jerry Albert is inviting us to join him in participating in The American Scientific Affiliation Winter Symposium entitled “God, Science, and the Pandemic: With Lessons from John Donne”

Philip Yancey, noted author turned to John Donne’s poetic and theological reflections to help him think about pain, suffering and fear at the onset of the COVID pandemic. This program will be entirely available online 9:00 a.m.-Noon Pacific Time on Saturday, January 29 and is free of charge (but you will be asked to make a contribution, though a contribution is not required). The program will consist of three parts:

9:00 a.m. PST: Conversation with Philip Yancey — how poet and scholar John Dunne processed living through the 1623 pandemic.

10:00 a.m. PST: Panel Response and Discussion — the social, psychological, physical and pastoral needs of Christians living through the COVID pandemic.

11:00 a.m. PST: Small Group Discussion — to process lessons learned and consider how to apply them to our personal lives.

FYI, John Dunne is one of Pastor Karla’s favorite poets.
